UK CAP 1763 / ANO 2018 / ANO 2019 : What Changes for CAA certified 'Remote Pilots' ?

I'm struggling to fully understand the implications of this new publication (CAP 1763 - Air Navigation Order 2018 and 2019 Amendments) and how it will affect us. New flight restriction zones : restrictions around airfields with Aerodrome Traffic Zones are pretty clear and easy to understand and...

    UK Insure4drones - any good?

Not tried Insure4drones but imagine they would be ok. I've just gone with DroneGuard having been with John Heath's Cover Drone for about 4 years. I've also decided to only take out £5 million public liability insurance. Nothing but praise for Coverdrone, very easy to deal with but DroneGuard...

    UK UK CAA PfCO renewal

I've just received my new CAA PFCO. From submitting the online form to receiving the PFCO took just over 2 weeks. That's pretty good considering I had to make several amendments. I had left in a couple of references to 'Pilot in Command' and also to PFAW. I also had a mismatch between the...

UK Anybody added Mavic Pro or Air to their PfCO?

Brilliant - thanks for that clarification

UK Anybody added Mavic Pro or Air to their PfCO?

I'm just trying to confirm that it is still the case that if you add an additional drone to your fleet within the same weight class that as long as one amends the details in the Ops Manual there is no need to inform the CAA until renewal time. I've copied the latest advice from the CAA and find...

UK Have you gone self employed and make a full time income?

I might be wrong but I think that you would need to become a niche specialist to make a living out of operating a drone. That might be working in the film or TV industry or becoming involved in accurate surveying work within industry, for example transportation or construction. As Martinh32...

UK Does anyone have experience flying at large public events?

Great reply 'Ed' - informative, positive and encouraging. Operating in 3D airspace whilst concentrating on photography or video filming whilst at the same time considering crucial safety aspects can be a daunting challenge for both experienced pilots and newcomers to this very new industry...

    UK CAA, CAP 1687, & SI 2018 No. 623

Thanks NickU, I guess this is what we get paid for!

    UK UK CAA PfCO renewal

Thanks for letting us know how your renewal went. It's not that long before I'll be renewing and its reassuring to know the new system is running smoothly

UK Anybody added Mavic Pro or Air to their PfCO?

Thank's - Yes, lack of manual ATTI mode slightly concerns me. I'm not one of the more experienced pilot who stay in ATTI all the time but it has definitely saved my bacon on a couple of occasions.

UK Anybody added Mavic Pro or Air to their PfCO?

I was just wondering if anybody has successfully added either the Mavic Pro or Mavic Air to their PfCO? With the price dropping and the quality going up these small DJI drones could be a really useful addition to my filming kit when working in remote locations. I've got an adapted backpack for...

    UK UK insurance renewal

Just a couple of further comments to add to this thread. I've been with Coverdrone from the offset and always found them very responsive. Especially in the period when I was working towards my CAA PFAW, flying but not earning but, needing insurance to cover me on training missions. I'm about...

    UK Questionable Job

I was interested to read this thread. I think you made the right decision in turning this job down. What your potential client really needed was a qualified surveyor to take very accurate readings on the ground. Last year I was asked to take a series of landscape images of an area of land...

    UK Coverdrone Flysafe ?

I'd be interested in the opinion of other certified UK Pilots about the new Coverdrone Flysafe app. This is available free to those who have Coverdrone Insurance through John Heath. I almost installed it until I started to read the terms and conditions about sharing my personal data and decided...

UK London City Airport - No communication from them.

OK to The Editor, thanks for the clarification and the link. I would always let relevant bodies know what I'm up to if necessary. I'm working on a very large brownfield site so apart from the owners of the land, my client and London City Airport I haven't felt the need to talk to anybody else...
