Hello from California, need some advice

If it were me I'd test the X7 on my I2, not his. Sure, if it works on his, it should work on yours too. But I always prefer direct tests when possible. I'd also suggest that you think long and hard about whether you really need to upgrade to the X7 at this point in the I2's life. My aging I2...

New Inspire 1 Owner - Why do you fly it?

I sold my I1 years ago after upgrading to an I2. I added a Mavic Air 2S to my kit when it came out. I keep and use the I2 because I have a few regular customers who require CinemaDNG, and because I shoot in some settings that require a long lens and better image quality than DJIs other zooming...

White noise dots and spots in images and video

Well, I wouldn't describe those artifacts as white noise, but they are definitely not normal. The artifacts that are most obvious to me are in the the seemingly blown out areas at/near the sun, and in small areas within the dark foreground that might have been blown out due to lens flare or lit...

White noise dots and spots in images and video

What you describe is not normal, as I'm sure you know. Post a sample DNG if want further confirmation. Sounds like something is wrong with the X5S. Can't say if its the sensor itself, or something else. I'm sure DJI would be happy to diagnose and repair/replace. Good luck!

    Olympus 12mm x5s focusing & lens calibration

CW177: The Oly 12mm can be physically switched into a manual focus mode that prevents the app from changing its focus. You switch between manual and autofocus on the lens by sliding the focus ring forward or backward. The focus ring has ridges on it, circles the barrel of the lens, and sits...

    terrible video transmission

There are numerous old threads discussing unreliable video feed between the I2 and CS. Recommend you try searching for them, for background if you have not already. The culprit was the CS, not the I2. I got rid of my CS a few years ago because of those problems on a client shoot that almost cost...

    Crystal Sky reliability

I've seen good reviews of the TRIPLTEK 7" Tablet (Android, 1200 nit display, $600, operating temp range 0F to 120F). I use my iPad Pro in most settings, even though I own the 2000 nit CS Ultra. I stopped using my Crystal Sky in most situations a few years ago due to reliability issues. The...

    Experiences with 256GB Micro SD

A 256GB micro SD is overkill. Of course if its all you've got, it's nice to know it will work. But even a 64GB micro SD card holds over 80 minutes of 4k video at the most space hungry video setting available on the X5S, more at all the other settings. Given that this is 4x the typical flight...

    FPV on Inspire 2

Here's a handyField of View calculator you can use to answer this question: Camera Field of View Calculator (FoV) The answer is around 10.5mm (on a full frame 35mm camera).

Freefly Astro: FINALLY a Competitor to the Inspire!

I would have expected them to call that an "onboard computer" rather than "companion computer". But I certainly could be wrong! I was thinking the companion computer might be used pre and/or post flight for advanced flight planning or processing of data gathered during flight (such as mapping or...

Freefly Astro: FINALLY a Competitor to the Inspire!

So many compelling selling points... then this: Did you see that thing? Not my idea of adorable. Koala bears are adorable. Flying spiders are scary. On a more serious note, the ""Linux Companion Computer" feature sounds misguided. I already have a few pretty powerful computers. Do I really...

Flying sideways and rotating, use camera or drone rotation?

I stopped using course lock and switched to waypoints (and of course manual piloting) several years ago. Seems the Course Lock implementation is (or at least was) purely based on maintaining the selected compass heading, with no compensation for drift perpendicular to that heading that might be...

Flying sideways and rotating, use camera or drone rotation?

My first inclination to execute the shot you describe would be to use waypoints to define the flight path, then fly the mission in Free Orientation mode so I can rotate the drone's orientation independent of its flight path. I'd keep the subject in the desired point of the frame by rotating the...
