I'll say that I did not connect the Shield to the I1. I was checking the new setting and noticed that as soon as I opened the Directors mode from the front screen the application hung and i had to restart the app.

Leaning toward the app. However the platform you are using can be very important in almost any issue of this nature.(explained below) Rolling back the App may be your only option for now. If DJI has a rollback option.

There is the tablet and it is perfect for the Inspire 1. It is not a reco brand but performs well. There have been some crash issues but most people run into something with any brand. There will be the Trega X1 version in 2015 which will pretty much trump the competition in performance...

Heads up, the Director mode crashes my Nvidia Sheild. I know some operators use the Sheild. If your having other issues i would like to know about it. The version I am using comes from the DJI website. I also use Galaxy S6 and it seems to be working.

That is very strange. The motor should have died if it shorted. I wonder if the melting was caused in the final decent. That is if the bird didnt crash. I burn a lot of battery in landing. So if the motor was on its last leg of a long flight it could have overheated during landing. Lasting long...

That person ran the motors to long on a hot day. Or it shorted like hooking the neg and pos together. I dont know why dji doesnt give you a heat detector with your purchase. Lol. I have not seen that before btw. Nice post!
