These are there to prevent the motor mount from slipping away from the clamp, incase of it failing.

Steve, Thank you for the post! I would suggest just a single wrap of electrical tape around the arm and motor mount for any others if this is of concern. This appears to be stretching out the braces a bit. I didn't use a thought of a foam tape as that would "isolate" the braces from the arm...

I think people over-react to flying in rain. Motors can easily operate in rainy conditions. All the electronics are at least covered. Even then, its extremely difficult to short components with low voltage and fresh water. When rain gets close enough to the craft it should suck most of the rain...
