    Welcome to New Zealand! Just use the Airshare website and you should be fine, there are two governing laws fro UAV activity in NZ. Part 101 and Part 102 Anyone using a drone will have to abide to Part 101. under 101 Generally you cant fly within 4km of airport (airshare has a map of this)...

    just an update. My insurer has accepted to include my Inspire as part of my house and contents, I will be covered for Fire and Theft if the drone is in a locked building, but not when the drone is in action. The premium is 150 NZD per annum. which is about 100USD per annum or 80EURO

    I have tried to insure my drone for Fire/Theft as part of the home contents insurance, most insurer explicitly exclude drone as part of the cover in New Zealand. I do have a quote for $1mil NZD public liability, it is $600NZD per annum. about 400USD/350Euro.

    Thanks for the input, Meta4. come to think of it, I did have to re-calibrate several times on the deck, and still getting error message asking me to calibrate the compass at a place where there is no magnetic fields. and when I flew it at home I calibrated it next to two cars - within radius...
