Inspire 1 battery mod: never ending crusade ...

Maybe hit up Jon Brotherton at JB Mod Parts and see if he'd be willing to take on the project. He re-celled my 3DR Solo batteries with good quality parts and fairly quick turn around.

    Flying in National Monument

https://skyvector.com/?ll=36.806260999679544,-111.79653167303857&chart=301&zoom=1 Looks like it is a designated wilderness area. So no taking off or landing within the wilderness area (no motorized vehicles are permitted). And you probably shouldn't operate in the area either, although I don't...

    Why no aftermarket I1 batteries

Yes, but they will lose capacity and likely fail at some point. ALL lithium battery designs face the same fate just because of the way they work. Recall Apple's problems with "battery-gate" a few years ago when they were programing in a processor slowdown as the battery capacity dropped to...

    Why no aftermarket I1 batteries

I also fly a 3DR Solo, and we're in the same boat there. We're seeing batteries fail completely and the recommendation from the gurus is to not use any factory batteries. But there are several threads and instructions on how to swap out the cells for new, and a fairly extensive project to build...

    Still No Competition for I2?

I would also add that the industry really cannot compete with Boeing, Northrop Grumman, etc for engineers. Sure a startup company like 3DR can offer stock or bonuses if the company succeeds but so can BA and they might actually be worth something someday. And you get the advantage of having a...

Maximum altitude below cell tower height

And that should still be possible to do, just not with LAANC, correct?

    Updating Firmware on Olympus lens

I picked up an Olympus Air with the 14-42mm zoom a few years ago mainly for that purpose. The price wasn't much more than the zoom lens alone, but that was then. I would't necessarily go that route now though because the camera is completely dependent on their lousy OA.central app.

    Just bought an I1

X5 if you plan on shooting manually. Adjustable iris (F-stop) instead of adjusting shutter speed or ISO (or using ND filters on stills) for correct exposure is much better. Plan on learning how to color grade and correct for white balance. And it severely cuts into flight time both due to weight...

Need help recovering "my" Inspire from DJI repair California

Apple is a little different case I think. This year I've had two Apple devices replaced, one under Apple care due to broken screen and another due to the iPhone battery issues. Both were replaced with a refurbished unit that was the exact same SKU. Apple doesn't upgrade their models without...

Need help recovering "my" Inspire from DJI repair California

Any chance DJI decided your drone was un-repairable and so in order to fulfill their end of the agreement they shipped you a refurbished unit? I've read from many Mavic Pilots that DJI refresh was just sending new replacement Mavic Pros after the crash even if it wasn't that bad, so maybe that's...

Florida Drone Supply Large Lot of Inspire 1 V2's

Interested in DJI 15mm lens with balancing rings after an unfortunate incident.

    My wife Inspired me

Actually I should edit my post I meant the M200 not M600. But I'm looking at doing telecom tower inspections. Clients will want barcodes and nameplates readable, thermal images of connectors and hardware corrosion. And I'd rather not fly into their tower. I practice on a tower at work (if I...

    My wife Inspired me

I have an Inspire 1 with an X3 and X5 camera. The I1 and X5 with primes is a great still photography package. For video the X3 is a better choice mostly because it is so much easier on the battery. With TB-48 batteries I only get about 15 minutes flight time in still air with the X5. Yesterday...

Flying over roads, NOT Part 107

To fly under the Special Rule for Model Aircraft you must: Follow community-based safety guidelines and fly within the programming of a nationwide community-based organization Fly under the Special Rule for Model Aircraft So the answer is still no. Because the "community-based organization"...
