Always gotta be on the lookout for low flying helicopters

Lots of low-flying aircraft along the eastern beaches.

Victor1 (a lane for small aircraft to avoid SYD traffic) runs from South Head to Cronulla at 500ft.

The Westpac helo, which is based out at Cape Banks, will often fly below this over water if they are on the way to a job on the coast, plus they (or at least they used to) do their shark-spotting runs at low altitude. (Which avoids them being in the Class C airspace, which starts at 500ft)

The news choppers would regularly fly beneath the cliff line at The Gap.

If you're doing lots of flying along the coast, it would be worthwhile buying a cheap portable scanner off flea-bay and keeping an ear out on 120.8. All aircraft broadcast their intentions along Victor1, you'll get more of chance to get your aircraft back to a safe spot before they arrive!

(And don't forget their wakes!)
