Anyone seen the new M200? It's a total Inspire 2 killer!
Why did DJI release this now when the I2 has only just been released?
We don't know the price yet but it probably will be a little more than the Inspire 2 and offers a whole new set of features such as multiple cameras including an overhead camera and flying in abnormal weather, which the Inspire or Mavic cannot do.
I was thinking of upgrading to the Inspire 2 from my I1 but now I think I will get the M200 and use my Inspire 1 for a backup and use the Mavic for more risky shoots.

No it isn't - they are totally different animals targeted and used for completely different purposes.
Matrice 200 Series-Applications

You were also adamant there was never going to be an Inspire 2.....
Is the Wind 1 actually the Inspire 2?

I have moved your thread to the correct section.

Possibly, but, the fact that you can put the X3,4, and 5 series cameras on it means you can shoot proper video in 4K as well. The M200 series can do anything the Inspire can do and more.
I appreciate the fact that you looked up one of my other posts. I can't even remember what the Wind 1 was. LOL!

I have an elephant memory. :p
There are many things the I2 can do that the M200 cannot and vice versa
For starters the M200 landing gear doesn't retract!
That rules it out for anything vaguely cinematic. Rotate the gimbal even slightly and you have a lovely shot of the landing struts.......

M200 does not touch the I2 at all. Two completely different markets, needs and price points. Inspire 2 was built for professional filmmakers, how does a professional filmmaker benefit from the Matrice 200?...no ProRes or CinemaDNG functionality which what all the high-end film companies want and need, no 360 degree unobstructed gimbal

I didn't know the landing gear doesn't retract!
And shooting other formats is gone too!
Too bad they couldn't make a machine that does it all.
They could have easily made the M200 do everything including a retractable landing gear and perhaps not come out with the Inspire 2.
But no, DJI has to come out with multiple machines so we have to spend even more money!

They are different tools designed for different jobs, if that tool isn't needed don't buy it!

Looks like DJI has dropped the Crystal Sky Monitors as well, in my opinion.
You would think they would have showcased them in the M200 video, instead they used iPads!
Too bad really, I was hoping to see them as phones and iPads weren't designed for this kind of viewing, especially in bright sunshine!
I know, some of you will say that because the Matrice series is for industrial use only, exposure and framing isn't critical!
But still, it would have been a great time to promote Crystal Sky, the monitor, not the porn star! Lol!

It's listed as coming with the M210

Yeah interesting they are including the CrystalSky with the 210 and 210 RTK models of the M200. I guess that means they are definitely coming...those have been completely quiet and I was afraid they dried up

Me too... although it probably won't work like most of their stuff and need endless updates.

LOL!
Just to set the record clear, I did not even know there really was a porn star named "Crystal Sky". It just sounded like a porn star's name, and low and behold, there really is a porn star with this name. Perhaps this is why DJI is holding back the monitor? Maybe they are contemplating another name?

Search the movie "White Airwolf meats Crystal Sky" :)

Retractable Landing Gear Standard
At least that's what's mentioned in the specs DJI - The World Leader in Camera Drones/Quadcopters for Aerial Photography
I don't want to imply DJI designed the M200 for cinematography. But it's not entirely impossible.

No X3, where did you read that?

Interesting......that could actually be a typo.
If you take a look at how low slung the batteries are on the M200 series you'll see that retracts will be no advantage. As soon as you swing the camera round the battery packs will be in view.
If you can find me a single photo of the M200 in flight with landing gear up I will Retract my statement (did you see what I did there?) :p
Can't see any mention of X3 compatibility o_O

White Airwolf implied that. I answered his post.

But about the retracts, I guess you're right. Some DJI specs are just not to be trusted. Which ones, is always the question with DJI.
