We are presently looking at purchasing the Inspire 1 with that camera (does RAW) but we can't find out if in a year we wanted to move up to the Inspire 2 that we could mount the camera on that new bird.

Anyone know?

No, Inspire 1 cameras are not currently compatible with the Inspire 2 platform. The I2 cameras have no internal image processing. It is all done onboard the I2. That is why they cost much less than their I1 counterparts.

Thank you for your replies, I greatly appreciate it. I didn't catch that little "S" on the Inspire 2 meaning they are different cameras.

The X5R is the camera required for RAW on the Inspire 1. The X5R is only compatible with the Inspire 1, Matrice 100 and Matrice 600.
Since you are in SoCal (Where I used to live/teach) are there any dealers etc in the Bay area up here? I am in the North side of the Bay and I only say that as it takes 2 hours to drive to the south bay.

That I am not aware of as we do serve a lot of the Bay area as we offer free shipping and its typically next day arrival depending on how far north you are. I'm not sure if you were looking to work with a unit hands on or demo but we've got plenty of long-time connections up in your area that I'm sure would be open to meeting up with you. Feel free to give us a call or shoot us a PM here on the forum and we can work on setting something up for you.

That is awesome!
My point was I am trying NOT to give my $$$ to the Amazon/Big Box offerings that are out there. Keeping our dollars local is important to each of our communities. I guess I will have to apply for dealership and repair as my son is really into anything robotics (he is an engineer of course) and there seems to be nothing in this Marin/Solano/Sonoma/Contra Costa County areas. Perhaps you would be interested in putting a unit up here (yes blatant appeal here)?

Totally understand. It is always appreciated to see folks support small business and a dealer where they can rely on rather than the big box offerings. We (and other dealers) in turn can be your point of contact that you can rely on for top tier drone service, something you simply cannot get from a big box offering.

Our management team is deep in the works for more units north, south and east of us here in LA. We'll be in touch. ;)

We are on the same page.
Let me know if you have any interest in expanding.
