    I did this update this morning on my Pro. It all appeared to go fine. The text file said it was successful. The app however tells me I need to update the aircraft.

    The About screen tells me I have the following:

    App: 2.4.2
    Aircraft: 1.4.00.10+
    RC: 1.5.70
    Camera: 1.2.0.50

    Any thoughts on why the Firmware update would appear to be successful but the App would still give me a notice?

    After updating my Inspire 1 yesterday via my X3 to 1.5.0.30, I successfully carried out the Inspire 1 Pro update (1.2.0.50) via my X5 this afternoon. It took just 2:30 mins to update two sub-system which I assume is the X5 camera and gimbal.

    It looks like you upgraded your Inspire 1 Pro with the Inspire 1 (non-Pro) firmware. I'm not sure this is a good idea.

    DJI really needs to improve the quality of their software. This is just pathetic.

    I did not do that unless they put the wrong download on the Pro website. I don't think that's what happened.

    If you look at the App reported aircraft firmware version between the I1 Pro and my I1 (standard), the Pro is showing 1.4.0.10+ and the I1 1.5.0.30. Users with access to an X3 (ie. those who upgraded to X5) were able to use the 1.5.0.30 I1 firmware update issued yesterday. The + sign usually indicates that a non-standard or beta firmware version is installed and the app cannot read it. It could be that the latest battery firmware is not included.

    The way to check what sub-systems have been updated is to use the Windows/OS-X option to view hidden files and folders. The open the MicroSD card and look in MISC/LOG and open the .txt files. Scroll down to the line with the firmware version and see those sub-systems that require updating (see my post #4 above). I suspect that the I1 Pro ESC (motor) have a different firmware number, eg.

    [00013696][12 00][00] v1.11.0.0 -> v1.11.0.0
    [00013799][12 01][00] v1.11.0.0 -> v1.11.0.0
    [00013897][12 02][00] v1.11.0.0 -> v1.11.0.0
    [00013997][12 03][00] v1.11.0.0 -> v1.11.0.0

    If you have run the update and the.txt file reports "Success" then I would not concern yourself and carry on flying until the next update is issued or you can borrow a X3.

    Using the I1 Pro firmware I have only updated my X5. None of the other aircraft sub-systems or batteries where affected. From experience with the formal and beta updates, I am content that only those sub-systems that are at an older version number will be updated. If I have any failures I know I can downgrade if necessary.

    PS. I have an Inspire 1 (standard) with larger anti-vib and X5 upgrade.

    Ah, wait a second; I have been focused on "Aircraft 1.5.0.30", and am only now noticing "Camera 1.2.0.50".

    So here is what I think:
    • The Inspire 1 (non-Pro) firmware update is called "Inspire 1 Firmware v1.5.0.30", and that version number refers to the aircraft firmware.
    • The Inspire 1 Pro firmware update is called "Inspire 1 Pro Firmware v1.2.0.50", and that version numbers refers to the camera firmware.
    So when you said:
    you were referring to the first (non-Pro) aircraft update (first). And when you then said:
    you were referring to the camera update (second).

    Does that sound right?

    Correct. DJI Support on Facebook said yesterday that I1 Pro could be updated but only using the X3. I have a Inspire 1 (Std) with the X3 so I could do the aircraft and batteries yesterday (using 1.5.0.30) and used the I1 Pro firmware (1.2.0.50) with my X5 to get the X5 fixes. I agree that DJI need to get this X3/X5 update option sorted soon.

    PS. I just checked under the Zenmuse X5 Download page. It has the identical 1.2.0.50 firmware available (31.7MB) as under the I1 Pro Downloads.

    I just got off the phone with support. They are telling me that to update my Inspire 1 Pro aircraft I have to download the Inspire 1 Firmware v.1.5.0.30 from the Inspire 1 page. The Firmware v 1.2.0.50 on the Inspire 1 Pro page only updates the camera apparently. This seems goofy to me. I restated to the guy what he was telling me. He assures me it's correct so I'm giving it a shot. I still can't quite believe that they've set this up to work this way.

    I've had the card in for a couple of minutes now and it doesn't appear to be doing the update. Green light on the X5 and not making the typical noise.

    In exactly the same position right now, X5 upgraded to the latest version however Aircraft is showing as the older Inspire 1 firmware version. Like you loading the latest Inspire 1 firmware onto the card just starts up and sits there as normal.

    What camera are you using?

    Apparently, if you put the Inspire 1 (non-Pro) firmware on an X5, it won't update the aircraft, but if you put it on an X3, it will update the aircraft.

    We are using an X5, considering we purchased the Inspire Pro i don't have an X3 lying around to upgrade the aircraft! If this is the case i find it odd DJI didn't think about this.

    It's not the case that "DJI didn't think about this." They released an Inspire 1 (non-Pro) update with the latest aircraft firmware, then almost immediately they released an Inspire 1 Pro update that dos not include that latest aircraft firmware. The latter is a camera-only upgrade, which they released on purpose.

    The question is: when you thought about it, why did you decide that this was a reasonable thing to do?

    The answer is: DJI is very bad at software development and releasing. I have been a software engineer for almost 3 full decades now, and these are problems that were solved pretty early on in my career. Back in the early 1990s.

    Ther is a Glitch in FW 1.2.0.50 - do not upgrade your X5 with this.
