Pilot addresses publicly available or opt-out?

I just received a letter from the FAA indicating that the Wendell H. Ford Aviation Investment and Reform Act of 2000 requires the FAA to make airmen addresses available to the public. But they are giving me an option to opt-out and not allow my address to given out to the public. I'm guessing that the act requires Airmen to have some information available to the public and the FAA is simply complying with this order. However if it's a law, I"m not sure how they are allowing you to not obey the law by opting out.

Anyway.. I do not have any strong feeling about this one way or another, but am curious if anyone else had received this letter and what your general thoughts are in regards to this option.

What say you?
