DJI Go app automatic upgrade?

I'm using computers since Windows 3.1 incarnation, but never paid much attention to what's going on under the hood. My both birds (I1 Pro and P3P) are hibernating now, batteries 50% charged, iPad Air 2 sleeping - all waiting for warmer season and better weather to fly. Every 2-3 weeks I wake them up and exercise a couple of sim flights just to stay in shape. Recently, however, I noticed some changes in DJI Go UI. About section revealed new version (2.7.1).

Is it possible that the app upgraded itself without my knowledge?

The alternative scenario: I did the upgrade, but don't remember (early stage of Alzheimer's disease).

Yes it is. Just turn it off on your iPad for that app and then no more surprises.
