Looking at placing an order for my I2, has anyone had any experience with Map Pilot, Pix4D or other 3rd party applications with the I2 yet, or has anyone tried using this as an I1?

I havent noticed many firmware updates yet for the I2, so wonder is it a little early to put my order in - should i wait another month or so, or do you think its stable and usable with apps, etc yet ?

Whatever you buy, will be out of date and superseded within months. (Inspire 3 is already within R&D)

That's just technology.

Buy it. Enjoy it. Use it....... Move on and update.

If it were me (and it is in a way) I would wait for another month or so. I've seen a couple of common issues in threads so far (props that don't fit and craft fails to transition fully to landing mode) and would wait until DJI has had enough time to have it's customers finish beta testing it for them.

Take whatever time you need to feel ready before you purchase.. In the mean time, I'm out flying and having a great time with mine.. ;)

I am using Autopilot and set the RC in P mode. All works fine that way for full autonomous flying.

Buy it this is no3 for me and it's the best by far, you will really like the extra flying time.....enjoy

Unfortunately i own two I1s and an X5 and X5r, ssds etc. so changing over is tough.. i want an I 2 bad but to produce with the I2 i am looking at 10k .. batteries, ssd cards and the initial machine ...... buying the machine and the x4s would give me basically what i have with the Phantom 4pro ..which is a wicked machine for an amateur with beautiful video. Dont know about you guys but paying top dollar and then $1500 for prores and raw really is just a rip off. Kind of a dji tradition... prices will drop as always and hopefully they will quit charging for free compression standards they dont own. That takes guts.

Have you purchased your I2 yet????

Drone Deploy
Map Pilot
DJI GS Pro all work for me on my I2 for autonomous flight planning.....some better than others.

Maps Made Easy
Drone Deploy
Propeller and
Correlator 3D I have tried for mapping..........I like Correlator 3D personally but am now going to try Bentley's ContextCapture just as a last check.

Still looking for the best bang for the buck in accuracy. Oh........ I use ground control points set by traditional ground survey.

yes - unfortunately i have stripped the screws on the quick release adapters as wanted to change to the t-motor carbon fibre blades (which i have to say are really good quality) - its its off to the repair shop !

The initial flight I did image wise was excellent, however if you look on one of my other threads you'll see i had a fly away which nearly killed it!

Results from the initial flight image wise with the 12mm olyimpus were excellent, the exif info is still incorrect like the I1 so no change there. Initial testing look to give a ground resolution of 2.77px/cm at 100ft and the zoom quality is good. picture colour is a lot better than the I1 X5 using the same lens.

As i had problems with map pilot (which worked flawlessly on the I1) I'm also assuming current firmware problems (and looking at other threads re Auto Pilot) were the cause.

Hopefully when i get the drone back, their will be new firmware and i can continue.

yea.....the altitude is off on the I2 but in Maps Made easy you can submit a ground shot in addition to the aerials and they can at least tie the map to the ground for a KML (I think) file to place on Google earth so it's not floating.
A good RTK drone with cm accuracy will cost you $15K+- (DJI Matrice 210 w. loaded RTK and camera) so its ground control for me....then the altitude from the I2 really doesn't matter. For me.

Drone Deploy app is free.
DJI GS Pro is free too...........you could try them out too.
Map Pilot will cost you though......
