Hi folks,

Hoping someone might be able to help out!

I've just updated to the latest firmware and now the gimbal (X5S) is off it's xxxx After start up all looks grand however the tilt control doesn't work. After doing a auto gimbal calibration it sits there and goes mental?

Does anyone have any idea how to re-install the firmware or rollback? I've searched but can't find anything?

Any ideas?

connect it up to your computer via the usb cable (supplied with it) - then use DJI Assistant 2 to refresh or downgrade the firmware. You can also do it via the RC.DJI Go if you want - hold down the icon in the top right corner of the go fly page for several seconds and release, it should then take you to a firmware status/update page & you can reapply or downgrade from there too.

Cheers Nick,

Yeah I eventually found that through the desktop! Downgraded and still no joy - so frustrating!

I can't see the little cube icon to do the RC like there was on the Inspire 1

Back to the dealer next I reckon!

I was thinking about slave settings but if you have just master remote it's not the problem.

the rc is updated via the go 4 app on the I2, don't think theres anything in assistant now! if you use the refresh via the rc & go4 app with the I2 powered up it shows you the firmware available for the aircraft, but not the rc - power off the aircraft and restart the go4 app and go back into the firmware page with just the rc powered up, it should then give you the rc firmware status/options. I'm not 100% sure, but you should probably get the option to downgrade it on that page too.

if the refresh/downgrades don't improve things, then you may need to try and do an IMU calibration - not just the gimbal calibration. If the gimbal is doing its nut, then it could be the IMU values need refreshing.

I'd probably try to get everything o the same firmware version, then connect to assistant 2, do a reset to factory defaults (hopefully clear out any wonky setting values), disconnect from the pc, reboot the i2 and rc then do an IMU calibration. Maybe even throw a compass cal in for good measure too!

Hope something fixes it for you!

the icon in the top right of the Go4 "go fly" screen is something like three horizontal lines - it's the same one you use to sync flight logs to dji - just instead of pressing it once, you need to hold down for at least 5 seconds, then it should show a black page with firmware details.

Cheers Nick, when you say the firmware page with the go4 app, is that accessed through the about page? In that section all I can see is the firmware version listed - no option to change it... hmmm

Any thoughts?

no, you need to go back to the first app page - the one that shows the picture of the inspire. if you're in the flight screen (the one that shows the camera view), then press the DJI logo in the top left corner to go back to it. then in the top right you should see there lines = press and hold those for 5 seconds.

Cheers folks!

So i've tried the downgrade a few times as well as a refresh to no joy. It seems there's just one firmware version for the RC. Tried the IMU and compass calibration too.

I'm stumped.

Love these things when they work but my god they are the most infuriating things when they dont!

Thanks for the suggestions guys

Be prepared to take out a second mortgage if you send it in to DJI for "repairs". My video downlink suddenly stopped working on my Inspire 1/Xenmuse X5 and now DJI is holding it hostage for $403. I've called and chatted them several times with a request for a description of the problem(s) they want to "fix". No response. DJI builds a great product but the their "customer service" is more like a shakedown operation.

I find it unbelievable that DJI is still bricking perfectly flying birds with firmware updates.
Clearly they learned nothing with the I1 prop and firmware fiascoes
