Android versus Apple

Yeah, I don't see DJI redoing there app but third party types are already doing portrait mode. But, to make this usable you need a large tablet so you have the room to do it without cramming things in. Autopilot has a portrait mode if I remember correctly...

Having extra storage on the tablet is great for those who want to do screen recording of their flights but my experience of that has been extremely poor and laggy DJI GO performance with the screen recorder running in the background. On a tab pro 8.4. Screen recording worked great. Had to turn it off after 30s as the lag was unbearable.

They both have latency. If you want latency free then get a set of goggles, and run them from the hdmi on the radio. I highly doubt it will matter since you will most likely not be flying this like it is a 250 racing quad.

I would only pay the money if the iOS device has a needed function that is worth the price.

They may both have latency, but it comes down to whether that latency is obvious enough to make flying more difficult. In my experience, the latency on the android is significant enough to cause turrets syndrome. With the Ipad, I do not notice latency at all. But a subject like this is a relative one. I agree with whoever suggested that you need to make up your own mind after using the devices. If you have a friend with an IOS device, then ask to borrow it and try it for yourself.

I used my tab 2 samsung galaxy (ok old but it did work) very very laggy. my samsung galaxy s4 active overheated in summer and I had to put it under water to cool down and continue working. after the samsung broke down on me (not because the water) my friend leant me an iPhone 5S which has absolutely no noticeable latency at all. my samsung was ok until the CPU was close to melt down :D lol
I would like it is said above, try with what you have and if that is not good get what is.

EDIT: DJI did develope for apple devices in first place which is also stated on the package of a new inspire so I think in general an apple product is what one should get. I will eventually go for an iPAD Air 2 or the monster version with a 3D printed bracket :) - but most probable the Air 2. these are reported to go flawlessly.

Interesting you mention the Ipad Pro (monster) as I was looking at that as well. Although it is quite a bit heavier and would require a supporting bracket to offload the weight the greater size and more advanced processor would be nice -- the iPad Air 2 is now a year old whereas the iPad Pro is a few months old.

But, getting the cellular version is over $1K so...

that is why I am looking at the Air 2 which is more than sufficient. the "monster" is a MONSTER huge screen and you would need a 3D printed bracket and a shoulder strap of some sort to put the RC on to either fly or for your operator to be able to handle the camera. for that money it might make more sense to get a monitor and while most of us / people have iPhone of some sort the 5S is not expensive anymore and is also sufficient for telemetry and infoscreen for either one (pilot / camera OP). In germany the iPAD Air 2 64GB cellular version cost about 5 or 600 euro so it is fairly cheap compared to an iStore here in hungary where they ask almost double. (higher TAX- 27%). in Germany TAX is 19% only and with buying with my company I can ask for the TAX to be paid back. so I really only pay the NET price as a company. :D

Anyone using the samsung tab a 9.7? Ours is not conecting to the inspire 1 pro. We need the tablet because it works with pix 4d capture app iso isn't supported. It loads the app fine but doesn't conect. Any thoughts other than buying yet another iPad or tablet.

You're overthinking this. Both are good, it's apples vs oranges.
There's no clear "best". If there was, everyone would use that.
'There's no clear "best". If there was, everyone would use that."
Well thats not true is it? Theres no doubt Apple have the best product but many still like their PC's for some reason.

no trolling allowed.

please excuse my icnorance but why is the post you are quoting trolling?

i do not want to be rude but DJI did optimize their system for apple products. it says on the box when one buys a new inspire. no mention on the box about android device compatability.

To all of you recoiling at the suggestion that you're "trolling". The above says it -- "....Apple have the best product...". You are stating something as a fact and presenting no evidence. This is what trolling is about - just getting people with a different opinion riled up.

Try to be more constructive in your posts -- this can also be instructive to people here that will benefit in your guidance.

For the record, I work for probably the most admired company in the world in the field of small consumer electronics technology. We are not manufacturers -- more like journalists on this topic. But we go deep. Very deep. We are not OS specific -- we work with everything. We have programmers that deconstruct it all. And as individuals we may have preferences -- and they vary -- but it is well understood there is no universal "truth". You like what you like.

If anyone is trolling it is you. I work as a tv production house and have produced over 2000 tv commercials the last 17 years. 90% of pros use Apple Mac. We need a product we can trust. You guys are whiz tech people but thats not important to us. Make your own drones or computers and spend every minute of the day fixing them up. Thats your choice. We cant afford the time and to be honest, have no interest in the tech side of products. I make an average of $1000 a day on my own and cant afford to have my equipment to get fixed. I use apple so I dont have to worry. It just works. I understand what you are saying but as I said.. its my business. Im here to make money and to keep up with the latest equipment. I dont enjoy fitting ram and taking computers to pieces. The evidence Apple are better is because it is.

See there? Now you're being constructive. Providing some evidence.

And by the way... you're making a lot of assumptions about what I as an individual do. Did you consider that I am a professional in the same application as you? You're also making assumptions about my personal preferences. Had you considered that we might just have the same preferences?

Super-impressed by your income.

I learn a lot here on this forum and others. i spend at least 2 hours a day learning and Im 60 years old. I have shot and edited 66 tv commercials since October 1 on my own. I employ no one. You can hit on my profile and have a look. Im proud of what I do. I spent 22 years as a metro radio announcer and what I am getting at is that I dont care about the tech side of products. I have used most of the cameras since the Canon XL1s. Im not brilliant in my skills but Im brilliant to get work done. I love what i do. I get up every morning g and start work. I work from home. There are very few people earning g over 40 k a month in shorts and t-shirt working from home. Im a semi pro musician and have a song on iTunes as well.
I gather you are young so you have good reason to think I am gloating , but Im not. I have done the hard yards and Im looking forward to getting my new Black Magic Ursa in a few weeks. I fly drones and have spent the 10k cost in Australia. in 3 weeks I have earnt enough to pay for it. It is hard. Im finding the inspire 1 Pro difficult to fly and use the camera. I dont have it for the flying. I have it as a way to carry my camera and take great footage for my commercials. It gives me the edge above my competitors. I charge a normal rate of $550 an hour and it is hard for me to understand why people complain about the cost of equipment. A normal business will involve a large outlay to get started. All we have to buy is about 40k of gear and we can make big money. I admit it takes 15 years to get the clientele I have but it can be done and its hard work. Enjoy what you have. Someone told me years ago to do what I like to do and one day you will be good at it and someone will pay you. Thats what I did. I retired for work 35 years ago.
The work rolls in everyday and naturally I can live like a king. Good luck to you.
