Can anyone tell me whether the part which bolts to the CS monitor is universal - ie it'll work with both the mavic and inspire/phantom mounts?

You are referring the below circled bracket on the CrystalSky Mounting Bracket (Part 3), correct? Yes, this bracket is cross compatible with the CrystalSky Mavic Mount (Part 5). so that you can easily move the CrystalSky from one to the other. The Part 3 bracket is the one that is used for the Phantom, Inspire, and Matrice while the Part 5 bracket is for Mavic and Spark. Hope this helps!
