The I2 in this video sounds bad and looks like it is about to shake itself apart in the closeup (~40 seconds in.).

I've heard the same throbbing noise out of my old P4 at times and don't know if it is motor, prop, or ESC related. No winds when I heard it, but it was bobbing around too and now wondering if it is bad firmware. Another day it was fine and I don't know what or why.

Mine is doing the same, although not quite as bad. It also caused my camera to shake (X4S) so I have grounded mine, and my X4S is being sent back to DJI for another issue. For me, the shakiness is definitely firmware related because I had no such issue with the prior firmware. Hoping DJI fixes this ASAP.

Does this happen close to the ground as in part of the vortex ring state is it higher than that?

No, it was up overhead maybe 10 meters when I heard it making that brr..brr..brr throbbing noise like in the I2 video. Wind was unlikely as there was a flagpole nearby and flag wasn't moving at all. When I looked at it it was bobbing around making that throbbing noise so I landed it. Next day it was fine. I don't know what was going on, but it did have a firmware update prior to all this. (I'm beginning to think any firmware update is questionable now!).

That I2 video seems to be above any vortex area too when it makes that noise and shakes. When he begins landing it with the gear going down it gets quiet and doesn't shake as much. I don't know why landing gear down would make it smooth out and that throbbing noise to stop. Defect somewhere.

only possible help i could say is try reinstalling the firmware - and try again - it does seem strange!

Do you have the ratteling prop sound aswell? because the airflow doesnt seem consistent either.
My advice, do not let get back in the air, this amount of vibration can destroy the whole aircraft.

I have no prop rattles.

If you listen to the guy's video, at the moment he hits the landing gear switch and it beeps, it smooths right out and that throbbing noise goes away. Does seem like a firmware bug with the motors if that's the case. Does seem pretty dangerous otherwise with that noise.

Firmware/flight control system changes perhaps. BTW, not to hijack the thread, but after extensive flying today in Sport mode, I'm also convinced that the top speed has been further reduced after the F/W changes.

Almost sounds like the props are badly unbalanced. Sorry dude I hope you get it fixed and back in the air soon!

Have you checked to see if all your landing gear assembly is tight, I read some where that some of the I2's came with loose assemblies, that would most definitely cause the problem you are having judging by what I saw in your video.

The reason is your Obstacle Avoidance system is out of calibration. You can tell that is the reason as soon as the landing gear is activated and starts to go down the OA is automatically cancelled at same time. The reaction in your film is the I2 then goes into balance instantly. BTW grass is no a good subject for the OA as defined in the I2 manual.

Sensors were turned off other than GPS. This was a refurb the owner reported. DJI told him to stop flying it and send it back.

LOL - Well Jon, that blows your "theory" right outta the water :)

I felt the same thing. I almost thought the props were just on wrong. It seems more like an air flow issue than a firmware one.

That vibration has nothing to do with sensors - It is an airframe/prop issue.

How much free play is there in the arms at the T-Joints?
Are all the props secure and do the motors rotate freely?
After a flight are all the motor temperatures approximately equal or is one motor noticeably warmer/hotter?

Mine did that a couple of times, and also the display was blinking when it pulsed. I removed and replaced the camera and then my display cleared up and the pulsing seemed to stop. Might not be your problem though.

What do you expect from out of balance crappy/cheap plastic props?!?
I seen that on my I1 along time ago. I freaked, landed quickly, respooled it up, no vibration.

Nowadays, I wouldn't fly without t-motor c/f on any of my birds and I have eliminated all them silly problems.

I have seen something like that a few years back when I would build these things and at the time, in my situation it was a loose propeller, It dose not take much but when they are not right that is what it did.
