AerialMediaPros posted a new video with all the new info about the Inspire 1 Pro and Zenmuse X5, in including side by side comparisons of raw X5, X3, Pansonic GH4 footage. What do you think about the performance of the X5 after seeing footage side by side?

Well - I have not ordered yet - but I was to. After seeing this I will just wait a bit longer. I would like to have footage taken with log profile to color grade myself. From this videos presented here I can not see a 2000 euro value of X5 - sorry to say this as I was really looking forward to the X5.

I was a little bit on the fence about possibly ordering a X5 at a later date. Now I am not that impressed. With some good old fashioned time and tweaking the X3 files are good to go. I will keep what I have. I am happy with my I1 with its X3 camera....

well it seems that i spent way too much for a camera thats not any better than x3. dji blindly took my money on hyped up product. now ill have a heavy camerea with lower flight time and no better video quality. Thanks DJI

Are there still adjustable sensor modes with the X5? Maybe the out of the box mode has no sharpening? Focus does look a bit off in the video as well.

No no - this is way to early to say. There is examples of pro filmmakers that have graded example files from the X5 - and with really greate results. Wait with your conclusion until you have proper log files to work with. I really hope you have not wasted your money.

I think the main X5 landscape shot in this video is simply out of focus.

You just said "Pros". The majority of us aren't at that level. I apologize up front if my comment offended anyone...

Your comment should not offend anybody. I agree with you - most of us are not pros - and actually the pros will likely buy the X5r. What I meant to say was that we can not see the capabilities of the X5 before we have more examples and see what can be done with it in post.

The X5R is a very specialised piece and very few pros would have any need for it.
DJI wil probably sell a lot more to non-pros who just want to have the "best" and they'll soon discover that raw video isn't anything they need or can manage.

I am not sure who the X5R is for. If you need to shoot raw 4K, you're also likely dealing with DPs who have preferred cameras and lenses. DPs who have never heard of DJI.

Zenmuse X5 is not aimed mainly at "pro cinematographers". You cannot compare X5 with Red Epic, Arri Alexa or Blackmagic Ursa. But if there is a desire to become a pro and to improve your aerial photography / videography, well, Zenmuse X5 might be the right answer, in the right direction. That's actually the beauty & magic of rapid growing DJI community, most of the amazing footage available online was captured by people interfering for their very first time with an aerial platform. Inspire is a great tool if you're willing to take your creativity to the next level, simple as that :)

DJI have made some very interesting codex / quality choices between the X5 and the X5R. On the one hand you have a camera that seems to be hobbled by an insufficient data rate of 60mbs and at the other extreme a camera that only provides a raw solution ( + the 60mbs version ) that in data rates swings between 500mbs for 1080p and up to a staggering 1.6Gps to 1.9Gps for the 4k raw files.

So anyone trying to go for a quality solution is caught between these 2 alternatives.

The actual business end, the camera and lens options seem to be identical.

I agree with your statement Ian. Once you are into Raw workflows I believe you would want to choose a higher quality camera with better lenses on a higher spec rig and be dealing with a fully crewed outfit.

For me I will buy the X5 without a lens. I will then probably buy the Panasonic Lumix 15mm Leica lens, it's a proven well regarded lens whereas the DJI lens is unrated and and untested, it might be fine, but based on what I've seen so far it seems a temperamental unit. With the right lens I will expect to see a big jump in stills quality and an incremental increase in video quality.

Like many others I've been very disappointed with the X5 example that have posted up on the web. I'm sure higher quality demos will emerge over the next few days and weeks as people get the hand of using this new kit and of learning the disciplines of prime lens photography and videography. In the right hands the X3 can produce superb results and I've no doubt the X5 will surpass that and in the real world its rare to see an aerial shot in a production that lasts longer than 10 seconds and that's often pushing it.

I also feel these are very early days for DJI to be selling high quality photographic products and what will be on offer this time next year might well answer all of the concerns that people on this forum have been raising.

well after playing with it today. i Relized i needed to calibrate the lens. had to pick a subject matter with high contrast at least 50 meters away. then calibrate. once i did that the pics and video looked better , but im not wowed yet. maybe what cyclops said a better lens will then make this camera awesome. not saying its bad, but for the money thought it be a big difference from x3. maybe all the amazing shots seen on web on the x5 was all done in post editing.

Well said. As soon as the Blackmagic Micro camera gets a gimbal mount I'm jumping over.

Looking at it, it honestly looks like camera setup was incorrect. Although maybe I am just scared because mine arrives in two days... Also not enough information about camera setup was given. Was auto focus on, or was it manually set to hyperfocal on the lens? What are aperature and SS settings? They say all the footage is raw but really that is a misnomer, the GH4 could have had sharpening/contrast or a profile setting or shot using the new vlog firmware. Not enough info to draw any conclusions honestly in my opinion. I have set up a GH4 with the incorrect focus and had the same result in the video. I don't know but don't get too discouraged. Any ND filters used?

Did some more flying this morning. and i found out if you put it in classic instead of d-log and used the histogram for setting exposure you get better results right out of the camera. im sure d-log is used for more options in post editing, which im not an expert at yet.....
After flying and landing at 50% for battery break in several times yesterday i did a full flight and landed at 25%.
flight time was 9:15 using tb47 i suspect tb48 will give maybe 2 more minutes..poor flight time for professional use..
