Inspire customization thread

What kind of range are you guys getting with your FPV cam setups? I bought some clover leaf antennae and they're literally 1/3 as good as the stock antennae seen in my photos above. I tried the fatshark spironet yesterday and those weren't much better. I have to send my fatsharks in to have the receiver switch fixed so I don't know if there's an issue with the 5.8 module itself. It's brand new and I just got it off amazon....Anyways back to vtx range, is anyone matching what their stock inspire can do as far as distance?

I usually get 1.8 to 2km with Fatshark Predator V2 250Mw Tx.
1.8km with the goggles and 2km with my diversity screen/receiver.
But that's when used on my Phantoms, hobby 'wise'. I never would take my inspire out that far, not even beyond LOS.
I only use it for the front view when operating with a separate camera operator.

On the goggles and the Tx I use the standard rubber ducks. On the screen 1 rubber duck and 1 panel antenna. I tried expensive mushrooms but the range sucked.

Hey I wanted to see if you noticed any flight characteristics change after you painted it? Also how many layers did you use with paint? I was wondering if the weight from the paint was noticeable as well. I was looking at dropping my parts off at a auto body shop and having them paint it but they mentioned the layers and clear coat could add some weight. So I'm trying to track down people who have painted theirs to see if they noticed any changes.

Be careful and inspect sheets that UAVStickers.com send out! Paid for the full set and the stickers for the second remote to control the camera were wrong. Hoping they will make good on the mistake.

Be careful and check your orders. UAVStickers sent me a set for the camera control remote that were messed up. Hope they make right by it.

Sharky has a bigger smile these days. Actually the silicone light illuminates quite well. Flashes red or solid red. And I noticed that the UAV flys with more confidence.

There's a fair number of places that have the stickers already properly sized for various UAVs; though I've used neither myself, a quick Google search shows both UAVStickers and ROCCityDesign have Inspire-specific sticker templates with shark teeth.

I finally decided to customize my I1Pro, it went great and took me about 4 hours to complete from start to finish. I love all the great designs you guys are coming up with, it's really cool to see what is possible, I fly with several other Inspire 1 Pro's and this will make it easier to keep an eye on mine.



The dark spots on the nose are some type of artifact in the image, it is not on the drone itself.


I have really enjoyed doing this project. It was a lot of fun. Happy flying to all my Inspire Pilot friends.

Did you paint over the green battery indicator lights? If yes, they show up pretty good when lit for having paint over them. Some people that painted the Inspire didn't paint over the lights. What did they do mask them off (must take forever) or does the top of the battery case come off to paint it?
